Have external Modem instead of internal PCI based card modem which hogs another IRQ. The serial mouse uses my external serial port. This forces me to go for USB based 56Kbps V.90 MultiTech modem. I 'm not sure how a USB based modem's performance would be compared to a Serial port modem.
